A 13-year-old boy was referred to the authors for total retinal detachment with a giant retinal break and advanced proliferative vitreoretinopathy in his right eye. He underwent bilateral trabeculotomy for congenital glaucoma one month after birth. The affected eye was treated by vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade. The retina eventually became reattached after a similar procedure performed one week later for recurrence of retinal detachment with vitreoretinal proliferation. The axial length of the affected eye was 33.8 mm, with remarkably liquefied vitreous. These features appeared to have induced giant retinal break and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. LA: <#>
