The authors wished to verify if IOP values after trabeculectomy are conditioned by the 'plane' of sectioning. Eighty eyes with chronic glaucoma underwent trabeculectomy. The patients were monitored with tonometry at one, seven, 14, 30, and 180 days postoperatively (with regard to the ultrastructural observation). The authors state that the site of the section is particularly important in relation to a good postoperative course: the ideal section is in the trabecular-sclera area. LA: Italian
