The authors performed trabeculectomy with adjunctive mitomycin C in four eyes of four patients with end-stage glaucoma. All eyes had decreased visual acuity with the visual field damage almost involving the fixation point. The intraocular pressure (IOP) was well controlled in all four eyes after a follow-up of seven to 14 months. Visual acuity either improved or remained stationary in three eyes and was almost lost in one eye. The eye with visual loss showed low foveal threshold value of 9 dB in contrast to 19 (similar to) 33 dB in the other three eyes. It also showed IOP of 2 mmHg on day 2 of surgery in contrast to 12 (similar to) 20 mmHg in the other three eyes. LA: Japanese
