OBJECTIVE: To explore the effectiveness and safety of phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation combined with trabeculectomy. METHODS: The triple procedure was performed on 36 eyes of 36 patients with cataract and glaucoma. Intraocular pressure (IOP), visual acuity and filtering bleb were observed after operation. RESULTS: The mean IOP was (23.62 ± 12.33) mmHg before operation under drug control. Postoperatively, the mean IOP was 16.37 ± 5.38 mmHg after one week, and 15.72 ± 4.96 mmHg after three months. The corrected visual acuities after operation were counting fingers in one eye, 0.1-0.5 in 26 eyes, and 0.6-1.2 in nine eyes. CONCLUSIONS: The triple procedure is safe and effective. It is available for cataract patients with glaucoma.
