OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of compound pill salvia miltiorrhiza on the treatment of angle-closure glaucoma and the immunity function of red blood cells. METHODS: The red blood cell (RBC) C3b receptor rosettes and RBC immune complex (IC) rosettes of 32 cases with angle-closure glaucoma were measured before treatment with compound pill salvia miltiorrhiza and one month after treatment. RESULTS: The results showed that the mean rosette rate of RBC C3b receptor was significantly increased and that of RBC IC receptor was markedly reduced by compound pill salvia miltiorrhiza treatment (p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Compound pill salvia miltiorrhiza can improve red blood cell immunity function, and may have neuroprotection for angle-closure glaucoma patients. LA: Chinese
