The authors evaluated the midterm outcome of nonpenetrating trabeculectomy with adjunct use of mitomycin C in 20 eyes. The series comprised ten eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma and ten eyes with normal-tension glaucoma. The intraocular pressure (IOP) averaged 19.0 ± 5.6 mmHg before surgery and 11.6 ± 3.0 mmHg at 12 months after surgery. The difference was significant (p < 0.05). Peripheral anterior synechia developed as a major complication in 12 eyes, requiring laser goniopuncture or laser trabeculectomy. LA: Japanese
