Our visual acuity measurements may not be that stable. Although visual acuity is usually a late concern to glaucomatologists it may be good to learn from Leinonen et al. (546) that the random measurement error of visual acuity measurements may be in a range from 0.3 to 1.3 for the Snellen chart (SDME log MAR 0.04 in eyes with good vision, log MAR 0.09 xx bad vision). Changes of visual acuity should be judged (as ever) in the light of inherent variability.
