11872 Personality assessment based on the five-factor model of personality structure in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma, Mabuchi F; Yoshimura K; Kashiwagi K et al., Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2005; 49: 31-35
With regular intervals over the past 40 years the personality of glaucoma patients has been the subject of study. A recent study by Mabuchi et al. (378) came from Japan. They found significantly more 'neuroticism', significantly less 'agreeableness' and 'conscientiousness'. Male glaucoma patients also were 'not extravert'. The data are based on a so-called five-factor model of personality. The control persons had no ocular disease except cataract. Anyway, the Japanese glaucoma patient seems to dwell more on the sombre side of life. So what about quality of life?
