In contrast to non-pseudoexfoliative open-angle glaucoma, deep sclerectomy
or viscocanaliculostomy were successful only in 12% without YAG goniopucture
in pseudoexfoliative glaucoma during the 18-months follow-up.
Modulation of TGF b-induced myofibroblast-transdifferentiation:
Selective inhibition of intracellular signalling pathways may prevent
fibroblast transdifferentiation in human tenon capsule fibroblasts.
At a mean follow-up of 33 and 36 months respectively, primary MMC
and 5FU trabeculectomies had equal efficacy and safety.
Pseudoexfoliation was frequently found in people from Yamane (12.5
%), Ethiopia (4.35%), Russia and the Baltic countries (48.9%).
Using two-dimensional and pulsed Doppler echocardiography of transmitral
flow, asymptomatic myocardial dysfunction was found in patients with
pseudoexfoliation, which may reflect to systemic vascular dysregulation.
Comparing the 24-hour diurnal IOP between latanoprost and bimatoprost
in this double-masked, crossover study, bimatoprost resulted in a statistically
but not clinically significantly lower IOP compared to latanoprost.
"Excess ocular pressure (EOP)", a new parameter of the Reichert
Ocular Response Analyser tonometer, is relatively independent from CCT,
and therefore may be a measure of true IOP.
In this 18-months crossover study on progressive POAG eyes, b.i.d.
brimonidine was more effective in reducing visual field deterioration
than 360° ALT, despite its resulting in a poorer IOP control.
A single nucleotide polymorphism of ETA gene was associated
with normal tension glaucoma in this retrospective study.
Using high precision ultrasound wall tracking system significantly
increased arterial rigidity, and decreased baroreflex function was found
for the common carotid artery in primary and juvenile open angle glaucoma
compared to the age and sex-matched healthy controls.
