- By analyzing intraocular pressure (IOP) readings with Goldmann
applanation tonometer in 7313 normal Japanese in Tajimi city, the
IOP tends to be higher in those with thicker cornea, smaller corneal
curvature, more myopic, younger age, higher systolic blood pressure,
and higher body mass index.
- In 11 eyes, of those in whom triamcinolone 10 mg was applied at
the end of vitreous surgery, 4 eyes showed intraocular pressures
higher than 21 mmHg at longer than 6 months after surgery, and 2
showed higher than 21 mmHg even with glaucoma medication at longer
than 24 months after surgery, whereas those received 5mg
triamcinolone did not mark high intraocular pressure after 6 months.
- Regardless of existence of glaucoma, eyes with exfoliation
material had less corneal endothelium than those with primary
open-angle glaucoma or the normal eyes did.
- In normal-tension glaucoma patients with systemic hypertension,
those treated with oral angiotension converting enzyme (ACE)
inhibitor, which increases nitric oxide via bradykinin, kept visual
field defects stable for more than 2 years (MD slope = +0.48
dB/year) comparing to those treated with other than ACE inhibitor
(MD slope = -0.49 dB/year) by retrospective analyses.
- In mouse fibroblast, exogenous TNF a
suppressed fibrilization derived by TGF-b1,
while endogenous TNF a in fibroblast did
not have influence on fibrilization. In a tissue fibrilization, TNF
a from macrophage seems to have a
significant role.
- In a case control study, A-110C polymorphism of Heat Shock
Protein 70-1 showed a higher frequency of AA type in glaucoma
patients than in normal control subjects (p = 0.007), while no such
a difference was observed in G+190C polymorphism.
- In prostanoid FP receptor knock out mouse, travoprost,
bimatoprost, unoproston, tafluprost, as well as latanoprost did not
show intraocular pressure lowering effects, while bunazosine
chloride reduced the intraocular pressure significantly.
- In patients with ischemic optic neuropathy in only one eye, the
cup volume and the cup depth measured by a Heidelberg Retina
Tomograph did not show significant differences comparing with the
contralateral normal eye, whereas the cup to disc area ratio, the
rim volume and the cup shape measure showed significant differences
between the affected and unaffected eyes. Retinal nerve fiber layer
thickness by a GDx was significantly reduced in the affected eye.
- Comparing viscocanalostomy in glaucoma triple procedure with
trabeculotomy in glaucoma triple procedure, the reduction rate of
intraocular pressure was higher in viscocanalostomy triple after 5
years and side effects were less frequent. (3-048 p158)
- In selective laser trabeculoplasty, 50 % survival period was 2.0
months when an increase of out-flow pressure by 30% or more was
considered to be a success. The 5-year survival rate was 0.39.
