Inhibition of VEGF reduces scar formation after filtration surgery.
Given intracameral perioperatively, it reduces additional interventions
in the first year post trabeculectomy, and it is complementary to MMC,
allows reducing MMC dosage and has equal efficacy with MMC intra-cameral,
intravitreal and subconjunctivally. (Ingeborg Stalmans, Leuven, Belgium)
Practical approach 'beyond IOP': reduce IOP without BP lowering,
avoid BP dips and fluctuations, manage vascular dysregulation, CAIs,
Gingko biloba, antioxidants. (Ingeborg Stalmans, Leuven, Belgium)
In cases with progressive retinal nerve fibre layer thinning due
to glaucoma or optic nerve head diseases lower IOP considerablely and
consider Brimonidine. (Julia van Rensburg, Cape Town, South Africa)
Anti-VEGF is the key to initial treatment for neovascular glaucoma.
(Ruan Botha, Johannesburg, South Africa)
Topical paracetamol penetrates the cornea and lowers IOP, 1 g oral
paracetamol reduces IOP equivalent to a topical betablocker. (David
Meyer, Cape Town, South Africa).
