OBJECTIVE: To observe the effectiveness and safety of combined phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and trabeculectomy in patients with cataract and glaucoma. METHODS: Thirty-eight eyes of 38 patients received phaco-trabeculectomy with IOL implantation, and operative effectiveness and safety were evaluated by observing the changes of intraocular pressure (IOP), visual acuity and anterior chamber angle. RESULTS: The average IOP was 14.2 mmHg, and the corrected visual acuity was equal to or over 0.5 in 20 of 38 eyes (52.6%) in 3 months after operation. CONCLUSION: The combined procedure of phaco-trabeculectomy with IOL implantation is safe with few surgery complications and good visual outcome in patients with cataract and glaucoma. LA: Chinese
