AIM: To investigate the use of ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in observation of high intraocular pressure in failure cases of glaucoma filtering surgery. METHODS: UBM was performed in 26 failure cases of glaucoma filtering surgery in our hospital. We observed the internal opening, the sclera channal and the blebs. RESULTS: Sixteen eyes were observed with strong echo under the conjuctiva flap. 5 eyes were observed with strong echo in the sclera channal. 4 eyes were observed with strong echo in the internal opening. 1 eye was observed with shallow anterior chamber, prolapse of lens and iris in the internal opening. CONCLUSION: UBM has the unique dominance in observing the internal opening, the sclera channal and the blebs, and may benefit for the evaluation and treatment of the failing glaucoma filtering surgery.
