Professor Robert D. Fechtner, Executive Vice President

We welcome all participants to the 5th World Glaucoma Congress and hope it will be a memorable event for you.

The program consists of 42 symposiums and 50 courses including a wide variety of glaucoma topics, from surgery to basic science, as well as sessions on life style choices for the glaucoma patients and how to design and publish glaucoma studies. Over 800 scientific posters will be presented during the entire congress and the industry exhibition hall will be held from Thursday until Saturday noon. For full details of all symposiums, courses, Glaucoma Society sessions and Industry symposiums, including faculty and presentation titles, please visit www.worldglaucoma.org.

One day prior to the start of WGC-2013, WGA holds its 9th Consensus Meeting. This year the topic is Childhood Glaucoma. The meeting will also be held at the Convention Center in Vancouver, from 10 AM-6 PM. If you would be interested to attend as an observer, please contact the WGA Executive Office, via info@worldglaucoma.org. As an innovation this year, the Consensus Meeting will also be webcast live, so anyone interested in observing but unable to be present in Vancouver will be able to join online from anywhere in the world.

Another new WGA feature is the opportunity to view some of the 5th World Glaucoma Congress sessions online via the WGA Educational Portal after the congress has taken place. WGC-2013 registered participants will be offered free access to the Portal and will be able to take advantage of this resource to listen to and watch recorded sessions which they missed during the Congress. If you are unable to attend WGC-2013, you will be able to register for the virtual meeting via the WGA website. For more information, please visit www.worldglaucoma.org.

The WGC-2013 promises to have outstanding courses and symposiums and we welcome you to Vancouver! You can contact our WGA Executive Office ((info@worldglaucoma.org) if you need any information or have questions on WGA-related matters.
